We currently have an opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Clerk position. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for processing member payments, disconnects and reconnects, responding to member concerns or other member related issues.

AEC IS A TENNESSEE DRUG FREE WORKPLACE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process member payments in person, via telephone and mail/night drop entry
• Balance drawer, submitting bank deposits per remit, and Comp U Safe drops daily
• Answer phone inquiries about bill payment arrangements
• Contact members as needed to verify account information
• Maintain member account information, i.e. recurring credit cards, levelized billing, etc.
• Process charge backs and returns for bad checks and credit cards
• Prepare collection and/or exchange orders on delinquent accounts and for returned items
• Maintain ACH information
• Process Recurring Credit Cards, add and maintain information on member’s account
• Add and maintain Budget Billing information
• Process collect card payments
• Coordinate with members and agencies for bill assistance programs (DCEA, SMARM, etc.)
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested
• Perform all duties in accordance with established AEC policies and safety practices
• Maintains a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Six months to one year in a customer service environment
• Bilingual Spanish desirable

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Proficient in the use of computers to process payments and access the Cooperative’s customer information service software
• Maintain confidentiality regarding AEC proprietary information and department information
• Ability to calculate figures and general ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
• Operate office machines such as Compusafe, computer terminal, credit card machine, and adding machines
• Operate company vehicle to perform required job duties such as picking up mail at post office
• May require occasional overtime
• Regular on time attendance is required

• Ability to speak effectively and clearly to Cooperative members and employees
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Sit, stand and walk throughout the day
  • Operate a desktop or tablet computer, keyboard and mouse

• The position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk throughout the day
• Occasionally lift, push/pull and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving parts
